When a bus company decided to build its corporate headquarters in Olean, photographer Les Howard turned the construction into a creation.
Twenty-nine years later he has produced a book, “Transitional Photographs of One Blue Bird Square, Olean, New York.”
The former Blue Bird Bus Company built its corporate office in Olean and Mr. Howard documented the event from a bare lot to a grand opening. Out of 2,590 photographs, 792 slides were converted to digital images to use for his book, published by Trafford Publishing and available through online book sources.
Howard says he was fascinated with the idea of telling a story with numbered photographs and captions. The complete story of Blue Bird Square, built by the late Louis Magnano, is shown from ground-breaking, excavating to building of forms to pouring concrete through a series of detailed images.
