The primary function of a Part Time Driver is to safely deliver and/or pickup buses from customer locations and sublets.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver the assigned vehicle to its destination without incident.
  • Coordinate bus deliveries with the parts department to streamline parts deliveries.
  • Follow safety methods and work safely.
  • Deliver paperwork with the bus and collect check and other pertinent information from customers.
  • Complete a final cleanliness inspection and ensure bus is clean at point of delivery.
  • Respond to inquiries of staff for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the status of deliveries, etc.
  • Pre-trip delivery vehicles (e.g. checking fluid levels, fueling, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of vehicle.
  • Follow all prescribed safety methods and perform work safely.

EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Previous experience driving buses or med to large trucks preferred.
  • NYS CDL, Class B driver license with Passenger Transport and Air Brake endorsements preferred.
  • Minimum of NYS Class D license with clean driving record required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Ability to make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions sufficiently to make deliveries, collect proper paperwork and properly answer customer inquiries.

Supervision- the PDI Technician performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to the supervisor’s guidelines.  Most assignments are completed with little supervision.

  • Understand DOT requirements with relation to School and Commercial buses.
  • Read and understand PDI work orders so you know what is required on each bus.
  • Modify each bus if necessary to meet DOT and customer specifications with regards to seat placement, air systems, chassis and body.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the DOT inspector and work with them on inspection day.
  • Follow all prescribed safety methods and perform work safely.

 

OTHER DUTIES

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial and school vehicles preferred.

The primary function of the Parts Manager is to produce a satisfactory profit while meeting the needs of the internal and external customer.  This objective will be accomplished through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory controls, staff utilization, pricing, and advertising.

 

SUPERVISION

The Parts Manager receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them.  Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work, and typically formulates policy for this area but does not necessarily have final authority for approving policy. Overall results are subject to review but little or no input is received on details.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish pricing parameters and forecast profit goals for the department. Develop quarterly sales promotions.
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all parts department employees and ensure all HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, etc).
  • Maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, paint shop and customers.
  • Analyze sales, payroll hours, inventory and other expenses to maximize profit goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to parts department employees.
  • Monitor parts department employee’s payroll records to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate a prompt, efficient and timely flow of paperwork.
  • Locate out of stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order if necessary.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
  • Follow safety methods, work safely and enforce all company polices and procedures as well as governmental safety requirements, including but not limited to OSHA regulations.
  • Investigate employee injuries and assists in preparing injury reports.
  • Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that may affect the parts department.
  • Attend meetings and travel to other NYBS facilities, customer locations, seminars, workshops to perform duties as required.

 

OTHER DUTIES

  • Ensure the new bus parking lot is secured nightly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a parts environment.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Communicate sufficiently to guide and instruct employees.
  • Make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies.
    • Perform numeric calculations when creating customer orders and performing inventory audits.
  • Use computers for record keeping, inventory and spreadsheet data.

SUPERVISION

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Organize, direct, and perform repair work that meets the service schedule

· Maintain service order records including assigning employee hours to each job

· Coordinate activities with DOT and other departments or vendors requiring joint services.

· Prepares buses and vehicles for DOT inspection

· Performs necessary inspection and repairs to bring vehicles into compliance

· Maintains and repairs all electrical, engine, transmission and drive line components

· May perform any welding repair

· Train assigned employees.

· Work with Parts department to ensure a timely turnaround of parts that are needed for jobs.

· Perform basic supervisory duties including but not limited to assigning/approving payroll hours, ensuring compliance with company policies/procedures and ensuring employees have the proper tools, equipment and supplies to perform the tasks assigned.

· Understand and keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that may affect the assigned shop operation.

· Minimal Travel to other NYBS facilitites, customer locations, seminars, workshops and medical facilities to perform duties.

EDUCATION / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years experience in a automotive shop environment.

· Previous supervisory experience preferred.

· NYS CDL, Class B driver license with Passenger Transport and Air Brake endorsements required.

· Cummins and Propane Certifications required

· ASE Test Series for School Bus required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES

    • Working knowledge of modern automotive maintenance methods and procedures including the proper and safe use of general automotive repair tools, equipment and of lubrications and their proper use.
    • Perform skilled automotive repair work involving the use of specialized tools, instruments and equipment.
    • Ability to use some independent judgment and initiative to continue training in the latest knowledge and techniques of the trade.
    • Ability to perform computer diagnostics and tests.
    • Ability to diagnose the source of a problem quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions sufficiently to follow supervisor instructions and work orders.
  • Ability to guide or instruct customers on vehicle issues and solutions.
  • Ability to make good business decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies when making a road call or answering customer inquiries.
  • Ability to write or type sufficiently to maintain automotive certifications, make notes on work orders. Ability to perform numeric calculations is necessary for diagnostic testing on vehicles.

  • Speech and hearing sufficient for regular in person and telephone communication with customers, supervisors and other employees.
  • Ability to read company and industry correspondence/technical manuals sufficiently to understand the intended message.
  • Manual and finger dexterity sufficient for using a laptop, shop equipment, hand tools and power tools.
  • Lift up to 10 lbs constantly and up to 50 lbs frequently while maintaining and repairing vehicles.
  • Lift over 50 lbs occasionally with assistance for some repairs that require handling of large parts or equipment such as transmission replacements, tires, etc.
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, kneel and reach frequently to access and work in various areas of the vehicles.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, crouch and crawl to access awkward areas of vehicles.
  • Repetitive motion of turning and twisting tools is required to maintain or repair vehicles.

Service

At New York Bus Sales, we service vehicles in our full scale Body Shop, Tech Shop, and Paint Shop. Our service techs focus on body repair, electrical welding and metal fabrication. Sales

The New York Bus Sales “On The Road” Sales Team travels across the State of New York excluding Westchester & Rockland counties and all points south. The sales team works with school bus operators to identify their future needs and customize proposals to help the operators achieve their goals. The Sales Team is the face of the New York Bus, handling most direct dealings with our customers.

Administration

Our Administration department ensures that the needs of our customers are met and expectations are exceeded. The customer service support team, delivery, warranty, and sales admin reps work side by side with all departments to uphold the quality and service that New York Bus Sales represents.

Accounting

Our Accounting team provides services and financial support to all internal departments and to our valued customers. Accounting’s key function is to provide information to help manage the business. Accounting processes payroll, vendor billing, and customer collections, and monitors regulatory compliance.
